The AWAKE Indian Dance Festival 2021

The AWAKE Indian Dance Festival 2021 was a six-day event held from October 19 to 24, featuring a diverse array of programs in a hybrid format at the BLACK BOX THEATRE of the Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre. This festival united the dance community with various themed performances, networking opportunities, and activities such as book launches, community tours, and both online and offline workshops. Highlights included the Bolly-Belly Dance Workshop led by teaching artist Anna Dimitratou, Indian Folk Arts workshops, and a Tabla Online Workshop. The festival also featured dance science and medicine workshops, film screenings, open rehearsals, and exhibitions. AWAKE aimed to strengthen the presence of Indian dance in Hong Kong and serve as a bridge connecting local and global Indian dance artists, striving for greater international visibility. It proved to be a fruitful and comprehensive celebration of Indian dance.

Stroll in Tai Po @West Kowloon Cultural District

Co-organized by the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority and Tai Po District Council, with Active Concept as the programme partner, "Stroll in Tai Po @ West Kowloon" aims to showcase the local characteristics and art culture of Tai Po and West Kowloon. This community engagement project invites the public to explore Tai Po through a series of exciting online activities created by local art groups, schools, and organizations.
As part of this event, Beyond Bollywood organized two online Bollywood Dance Experience Workshops on March 21 and 27. These workshops highlight Bollywood dance, which combines traditional Indian styles with various popular dance forms. The sessions focus on themes of water, wind, and plains, connecting participants with the natural beauty of Tai Po and West Kowloon. Attendees will enjoy distinct music rhythms and learn dance moves in a fun and engaging environment, embracing the cultural richness of both areas.

Tai Po Youth Online Festival 2021

The Tai Po Youth Online Festival 2021, held in February, was co-presented by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and Tai Po Arts Centre. Themed "On the Cloud," this festival offered a brand-new virtual experience featuring a variety of engaging online activities. These included "Arts Studio X Tai Po Arts Centre," "Learn Together," "Interactive Workshops," and "Virtual Experiences," providing participants with fresh and innovative artistic encounters. Beyond Bollywood, as one of the performers, organized an interactive online dance workshop on February 27, led by Ms. Hanisha Gianani. Additionally, Beyond Bollywood presented a performance titled "Collaborative Virtual Creation," showcasing various Indian dance styles from different dancers. This festival aimed to connect young people with the arts in an accessible and interactive way, fostering creativity and collaboration within the community.
