CUHK Wu Yee Sun College's 15th Anniversary Celebration
Beyond Bollywood was honored to be invited to perform on November 17 at Wu Yee Sun College's 15th Anniversary Celebration, themed Yeeladdin, during the "Wu Yee Sun Carnival." Beyond Bollywood brought together three different groups to showcase their unique styles of Indian dance, featuring performances by Purvi’s team, Maanasa, and Paul. This vibrant celebration not only marked the college's anniversary but also provided an opportunity for students to experience Indian dance and culture from a new perspective.

Diwali shows 2022
The Diwali Family Day 2022 was organized on October 23 to celebrate Diwali, the festival of lights, which is the largest Hindu festival in India. The Consulate General of India, in partnership with Asia Society Hong Kong, presented a Sunday brimming with festivities. Attendees enjoyed lively Bollywood dance performances, Diwali storytelling, yoga workshops, festive-themed arts and crafts, and a mural station.
Beyond Bollywood happily participated in this vibrant event, showcasing two energetic Bollywood dance performances that captivated the audience and filled the space with excitement.
The celebrations attracted significant participation from the Indian community and Hongkongers of all age groups. The atmosphere was joyful and festive, making it an unforgettable day for everyone involved.

Corporate training - Vans
Beyond Bollywood held a two-day corporate training focused on team building for Vans on September 13-14. Bollywood dance served as an excellent icebreaker, getting staff moving and fostering a fun, energetic atmosphere. The workshop was led by Pooja Laungani and Krystal Chow - Saraswati, who guided participants through engaging dance activities that promoted teamwork and camaraderie. It was a lively session that left everyone feeling energized and connected!

Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2022
In/Out of Bounds is a cross-cultural exchange event at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, held from August 15-20, 2022. Beyond Bollywood traveled to Edinburgh to present a captivating dance performance that bridges cultural and linguistic divides. We believe that art and dance are limitless, and the fusion of cultures can offer fresh perspectives.
This performance was collaboratively curated by artists from Hong Kong and Edinburgh, drawing inspiration from the experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic. The artists explored the integration of diverse Indian and Chinese dance styles, allowing each individual’s vision to shine while working together to form a unified piece. This collaborative effort opened up new avenues for empowerment and resilience, illustrating how inner transformation can help overcome challenges. Ultimately, freedom resides within; the broader your mindset, the more expansive your world becomes.

TPBBT - Performing Arts Market 0.5
Beyond Bollywood was invited to perform at the Tai Po Arts Center's special event, "Performing Arts Market 0.5," on August 6. The theme of our performance was "Indian Dance: From Classical to Modern," showcasing a variety of Indian dance styles, including Bharatanatyam, folk dance, and Bollywood dance. The performers included young dancers from Mrudulasya, students from Raas n Rhythm, and local veteran dancer Krystal Chow. This event demonstrated that Indian dance transcends age, time, and ethnicity, allowing the audience to experience and appreciate the diverse forms of Indian dance firsthand.




June
Filming screenings
Beyond Bollywood organized a series of film screenings and sharing sessions on June 26, October 16, and December 18. After each screening, an instructor led the audience in trying out Bollywood dance moves, allowing them to recreate the energetic choreography from the films. Participants were invited to discuss and share their thoughts on the movies, creating an engaging and interactive experience. The screenings featured Virus on June 26, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (那些年我們瘋狂的青春) on October 16, and Mahanagar (大城市) on December 18. These events provided a fun way for audiences to connect with the films while enjoying the vibrant world of Bollywood dance.
